Westmeath Children Set To Miss First Week Of School Over Bus Paperwork Issues

Problems with the Garda vetting process is holding up the delivery of the service.

There is no bus service in place for a Westmeath school route, despite schools opening this week.

An issue with paper work is preventing a bus from running the Delvin to Killucan route, impacting several students of Columba College.

It's understood a contractor is in place for the service, but it is awaiting Garda vetting in Westmeath, despite already being vetted in Meath.

Sinn Féin councillor, David Jones, says this has forced students to miss their first day back to school:
