Westmeath Councillor Wants Local Authority To Directly Employ Housing Maintenance Crews

The Sinn Fein rep wants the new government to look at the issue in the new year.

A Westmeath councillor is proposing the idea of housing maintenance crews employed directly by Westmeath County Council.

Currently, housing work is carried out by external contractors through a procurement process.

Sinn Fein Councillor for Kinnegad David Jones believes it could generate local apprenticeships.
