Westmeath Local Property Tax Hike Flies In The Face Of Government Policy - Mick Dollard

The Westmeath councillor voted against the 15% increase.

Homeowners in Westmeath are set to be faced with an increase in local property tax.

LPT in the county is set to increase 15% from next year. 

The decision has been voted on and decided by Westmeath County Council by 11 votes to 6.

According to figures from the Director of Finance in the local authority, the change would generate an income of over 1 million euro from 2025 to 2029. 

Independent Councillor, Mick Dollard, who voted against the motion, says the move is contradictory:
