665 people were detected speeding during National Slow Down Day yesterday, with a motorist in Tullamore travelling 85km/h over the speed limit being referred to as an 'alarming detection' by Gardaí.
They were arrested for dangerous driving and are due for a court appearance.

Gardaí also spotted a motorist travelling at 141km/hour on the N4 at The Downs in Westmeath last night.
An increased Garda presence on the roads has expired, with the joint-campaign coming to an end at 7am.
Safety chiefs are thanking motorists for their compliance yesterday, but appealing to drivers to continue to comply with speed limits all year around.
