A group of Westmeath students are uncovering the impact of plastic waste from diabetic medication around Ireland.
'Plastic, Not So Fantastic' is the title of a project from St Finian's College Mullingar entered in this year's BT Young Scientist Exhibition.
Judging is currently underway in the RDS in Dublin, as thousands of student showcase their work.
This year, the prize up for grabs includes a trip to Japan for the World Expo in July, as well as representing Ireland in the European Union Contest for Young Scientists in September.
15 schools from across the midlands are taking part, with a total of 44 projects from the region on display.
