Champions Clonkill began their Westmeath Senior Hurling Championship campaign with victory over Raharney last night.
Pat O'Toole's charges wasted no time in working the scoreboard and led by 8 points to 4 at the break.
Raharney racked up a number of wides, allowing Clonkill to find their stride in the second half to run out 11 point winners 1-17 to 0-9.
Clonkill manager Pat O'Toole says is unsure whether he will get his entire panel back, but was happy with the performance of some debutantes:

The other tie in Senior A involved Castletown Geoghegan and Lough Lene Gaels.
CTG came out on top in that one by 6 points, 1-15 to 1-9.

In the Senior B division in the Lake County..
In group one Ballymore based Fr.Dalton's triumped over Brownstown in a high scoring affair 3-14 to 1-13.
And Cullion and St.Brigids played out an entertaining draw 2-14 to 1-17 in group two.
