The performance leaves Kenny in 17th place with mount VDL Cartello, a creditable showing at his first games.
The top six riders will take part in a jump-off for the gold, silver and bronze shortly.
All eyes will now turn to the team event on Friday where Ireland will be hoping for better fortunes and are in with a great chance of contending for a medal once again.
