Athlone and Shelbourne meet in Tallaght for the game's show-piece contest.

Athlone Town will have experience to fall back on when they take on Shelbourne in this year's FAI Cup final this weekend.

The midlanders are playing in their third consecutive cup final with Shebourne providing the opposition in all three.

Town were caught cold in 2022 and a poor first half led to a 2-0 defeat.

They won the cup, the club's first major senior title in women's football, against Shels last year after a dramatic contest settled by penalties.

Ahead of Sunday's cup final, Town captain Laurie Ryan says at this point, they know what the big day is about:

Ryan joined Will Faulkner and David Hollywood on Midlands Today to look forward to this weekend's final:

Kick off in Tallaght Stadium is at 3pm on Sunday.
