The Athlone man hasn't played for Ireland since 2019.
Jack Carty says he was able to earn an Ireland recall by no longer worrying about one.
The Connacht out-half was included in Andy Farrell’s Six Nations squad, ahead of Leinster’s Byrne brothers - Ross and Harry.
Carty last played for Ireland in 2019, and says he gave up fretting about a return:
I think maybe when you try to focus too heavily on a goal, you might get kind of lost on the part in-between and I certainly did for a period of time.
it wasn't until I stopped worrying about that and got back to what I needed to do daily, weekly, monthly that I was able to slowly get back to where I am now.
Carty is the leading points scorer in the United Rugby Championship this season with Connacht, notching 72-points. That's 11-points more than his closest rival, Sam Davies of the Dragons.
