Both sides are on the road this Sunday.
Westmeath hurlers bouncebackability will be put to the test this weekend.
They travel to face Waterford in the second round of the Allianz Hurling League.
The Deise themselves are coming off the back of an opening day defeat to Cork and will continue without leading star Tadhg De Búrca.
Lake county captain Cormac Boyle says they're relishing a tough schedule:
Jack Cooney brings his side to Paric Tailteann in Navan to start their Allianz Football League campaign.
Caulry's Kevin Maguire was named as captain earlier this week and takes his place at full-back.
The last time Westmeath triumphed over their neighbours in the league was a five point win in 2008.
Ahead of this Sunday's Allianz League opener, we would like to wish the very best of luck to our new senior football captain Kevin Maguire, who takes over from Kieran Martin (captain for the past 2 years).

It's a very potent looking front six for the lake county.
John Heslin takes his place at full forward and will be flanked by Luke Loughlin of The Downs and his fellow St. Loman's clubman Ronan O'Toole.
Kieran Martin, Ger Egan and Denis Corroon make up a very classy half forward line with the potential to rack up a number of scores.
Here's the team in full:
Westmeath senior football team to take on neighbours Meath at 3.45PM tomorrow at Páirc Tailteann, Navan in Division 2 of the Allianz League.
