The Leinster Minor Football Championship got off to a poor start for the midlands counties last night.
Westmeath, Offaly, and Laois were all beaten in their first round games.
Westmeath comfortably led Louth for most of their contest in Hunterstown, until a late goal thrust the Wee County back in to the contest.
The Lake County conceded the last four scores of the game to lose 1-10 to 0-11 points.
They face Kildare in round two next.

Offaly were second best throughout their meeting with Longford at the Faithful Fields in Kilcormac.
After going 1-1 down in the opening stages, Offaly never got back in to the game, the final score was 2-13 to 1-9.

And Laois were well beaten by Dublin in Portlaoise 5-13 to 1-11.
