Shane Lowry is poised to compete for the Travelers Championship after a blistering round of 64 moved the Clara man in to a tie for fifth after the first round in Conneticut.
It was a bogey-free 18 from Lowry who scored five birdies on the front nine and another on the back nine.

Rory McIlroy hit his first PGA Tour hole in one on his way to a two under par round of 68, Seamus Power is on one under.
The field is being led by American Denny McCarthy after his got around in 60 yesterday.
