Westmeath's new senior hurling manager is facing into an uphill struggle, according the Midlands 103 analyst Gerry Buckley.
Seoirse Bulfin was announced as Joe Fortune's replacement on Tuesday night despite his appointment being strongly opposed by several clubs in the county.
Bulfin has been most recently over the Meath hurlers who picked up just one league win in Division 2A this year before Bulfin departed citing family committments.
He had previously worked under Davy Fitzgerald at Wexford, Waterford, and Clare.
