Mike Quirke is preparing for a local derby with Westmeath.
The Laois Senior football panel will feature a number of new faces for a local derby with Westmeath this weekend.
The midlands pair meet on Saturday in the National Football League Division Two.
It was February when Mike Quirke's side last took the field, a five point defeat to Kildare back in February leaving them in mid-table limbo with two rounds of fixtures to go.
Win both and promotion is on the cards, lose twice and they could be staring into the trap door to division three.
Laois will be bolstered by Sean Moore, Ross Bolger and Jack Owens of Ballyfin, Killeshin and Emo respectively who all impressed during the club championships.
Also returning are three who had opted out at the beginning of the year, Ballylinan's Alan Farrell, Portlaoise's Gareth Dillion and Paul Kingston from the Arles-Kileen club.
Eight players have opted out however, top scorer from last season Donie Kingston the most notable name.
He'll be joined outside the bubble by Colm Murphy, Jason Moore and Sean Byrne from club semi-finalists Portarlington as well as Garry Comerford, Damien O’Connor, Gearoid Hanrahan and Marty Scully.
