Offaly And Kilkenny Play Out High Scoring Contest In Kilcormac

Johnny Kelly's side return to league action this weekend.

Offaly's senior hurlers continued their preparations for the new season with a challenge match against Kilkenny in Kilcormac over the weekend.

The Faithful county made a strong start to the game with a run of five points without reply, and managed to reach the break leading the five in a row Leinster champions by four points.

Charlie Mitchell registered Offaly's first and only goal of the contest just before half time.

Kilkenny's general strength, and strength in depth told in the second period and a run of late goals saw the Cats run out 5-23 to 1-17 winners.

Johnny Kelly's Offaly side begin their league campaign this weekend against Carlow on Saturday.
