"A fear of Losing" is one of the reasons behind the abuse of referees according to an Offaly youth coaching officer.
Offaly GAA are launching a 'Respect the Referee' initiative in light of a recent spate of incidents at GAA matches across the country.
At this year's Jack Wyer hurling and the Gerry Conway football tournaments, young players and mentors will shake hands with the referee before the games commence.
