Edenderry made a strong a strong start to their county championship campaign.
Tullamore got the defence of their Offaly Senior Football Championship off to a winning start against Ballycommon on Friday.
However, Dowling Cup holders were tested throughout their opening round.
There was just a single score between the two sides at half time and Ballycommon struck for a goal immediately after the break.
Ryan Kenny's goal soon after half-time was @BallycommonGAA's first goal in top flight Senior football since Declan Todd's 23rd minute goal v St Brigid's in 1985's first round.
