The Laois club are just two wins away from promotion to the men's Super League.
For the first time in their history, Portlaoise Panthers find themselves in a Men’s Division One playoff semi-final after victory over Moycullen on Saturday.
Despite leading by 20 points at one stage in the second half, the Panthers were reeled in by their Galway opposition.
However late scores from Eric Anderson, James Phelan and Davin McEvoy all helped the Panther pull clear to book their place in the last four on a final scoreline of 82-73.
The league's top seeds, and President’s National Cup winners Limerick Celtics remain favourites after their comprehensive 112-71 winners over Drogheda Wolves in Crescent College.
The Panthers will now play at home to Moy Tolka Rovers who beat Titans Basketball Club, while the Celtics face Ulster University.
The Laois club take on the Dublin outfit this Saturday at 7pm in St Mary's Hall.
