The Laois club's National Cup ambitions were dashed by Limerick Celtics on Saturday.
Portlaoise Panthers fell to a defeat in the men's team's first National Cup final appearance in the club's history.
Jack Scully's side trailed Limerick Celtics for the majority of Saturday's contest at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, but managed to keep their Division One rivals within reach until the fourth quarter.
It was then that the Celtics pulled away to win on a final scoreline of 72-60.
Eric Anderson top scored for the Panthers with 25 points, while Limerick Celtics player AJ Murphy landed the MVP award on the day with 25 points of his own.
