Recently retired Laois footballer Kieran Lillis says their surprisingly poor performance against Offaly in the Leinster championship helped develop a sense of resilience in the group.

After the championship disappointment, the O'Moore County fought their way through to a Tailteann Cup final in Croke Park.

Justin McNulty's side were ultimately beaten by an accomplished Down outfit on the day.

Lillis says their bounce back from the Offaly loss should set them up well for next year:
