The sides haven't met the championship since 2014.
The Laois hurlers will be hoping to take a major scalp in the All-Ireland qualifiers tomorrow.
UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny is the venue for their meeting with Waterford.
It's the first time that the sides have met in the championship in eight years.
Cheddar Plunkett has picked his team to line-out as follows.
Laois XV:
Enda Rowland; Lee Cleare, Sean Downey, Donnchadh Hartnett; Podge Delaney, Ciaran McEvoy, Ryan Mullaney; Fiachra C Fennell, Jack Kelly; Paddy Purcell, Charles Dwyer, Ciaran Collier; PJ Scully, Willie Dunphy, Ross King.
Senior Hurling Manager Seamas Cheddar Plunkett has just announced his team to play Waterford GAA today Saturday 17th July at 2pm in UPMC Nowlan Park Kilkenny.

Paddy Purcell will be eager for another productive showing in front of goal after bagging a brace against the Saffrons to almost match PJ Scully's contribution of 0-9.
Waterford come into the game on a different trajectory having tasted defeat to Clare in the Munster championship. The banner struck 21 wide's that day and still managed to come out on top.
Speaking afterwards the Deise boss Liam Cahill alluded to making use of his full 37 man panel after being disappointed by the performance of some of the incumbents two weeks ago.
Here's how they take the field:

Best of luck to Liam Cahill, his management team and all of the panel!#deiseabú ⚪️🔵 pic.twitter.com/I5zo4PPozO
3,500 fans will be in attendance, the majority of which you'd expect to be from Laois so Cheddar Plunkett should have a decent level of support from the terraces.
It would be amazing for Laois hurling to continue on the comeback trail by pulling this one out of the bag.
