Westmeath Ladies suffered a heavy defeat away to Cork in their opening Lidl Football League Division 2 game on Saturday.

The Rebels relegated from the top tier last season proved far to strong for Frank Brownes charges, as it finished 3-12 to five points to the home side.

Eleswhere in the division, Monaghan beat Roscommon by a point and Clare and Donegal had to settle with a draw.

Next up for the Lake County is a home tie to Donegal next Sunday.
