The Downs began their campaign with a convincing nine point victory over Moate All Whites, Tyrrellspass beat Caulry 2-12 to 1-10, and Mullingar Shamrocks were five point winners over Shandonagh on a final scoreline of 1-13 to 1-7.
The championship continues this weekend with Coralstown-Kinnegad meeting Tyrrellspass in Cusack Park on Friday.
