Ashling Murphy Murder Trial Day 3
Ashling Murphy Murder Trial
Friday, 20 October 2023 - 12 minutes
The Central Criminal Court has heard Ashling Murphy died as a result of stab wounds.
Evidence of her post-mortem examination was heard at the trial of 33-year-old Jozef Puska, who denies her murder on January 12th, 2022.
State Pathologist Dr Sally Anne Collis conducted a post mortem examination at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore on the 13th of January 2022.
She said it was her conclusion that Ms. Murphy died as a result of stab wounds to the neck, with no contributory factors.
Dr. Collis said she found at least 12 sharp wound injuries – caused by a knife or a similar instrument.
She told the court that there were also some injuries to Ms. Murphy’s fingers.
She said they may have been defensive in nature as Ms. Murphy may have held up her hands to try and protect herself.
Jozef Puska, of Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, Offaly, is on trial for Ms. Murphy’s murder, and he has pleaded not guilty.
Frank Greaney has been in court and he’s been speaking with Midlands 103’s Aisling O’Rourke about the testimony from Dr. Collis yesterday, which you may find distressing:
