The local and European elections are front and centre this week where Pat O Toole from the Irish Farmers Journal focuses on Laois, Offaly and Westmeath County Councils with Laois having the strongest contingent of farming candidates elected. Changes in VAT reclamation for unregistered farmers have been set out by Revenue with some absurd changes that make absolutely no sense, Marty Murphy from IFAC gives an insight into these new rules. Athlone Show is on the go for over 70 years and PJ Glynn chats about what's on offer at the annual event taking place this weekend. Offaly IFA are holding a beef and sheep demo on the Tullamore Farm this week, IFA Beef Chairman Declan Hanrahan chats about the event and also the beef trade which has firmed up over the past two to three weeks.
