On June 2nd a fire broke out in the Kitchen of Scanlon’s restaurant in Kinnegad. The kitchen had been subject to extensive damage due to fire, heat, smoke and water from firefighting operations.

A farmer in County Westmeath was "shocked" to learn that two 4,000-year-old Bronze Age axe heads, which have sparked an international media frenzy, were discovered on his property.

Also, Ireland’s Men’s Sevens Rugby side have opened their Olympic campaign with a win. David Hollywood has more.
